FICTION #F3F

About

Announcing the FICTION #F3F collection of ambient games including Nightline, Carcavas, That Feeling Blue, æ, and Sands of Voltark. These five pieces, originally released between 2018 - 20, have been remastered and enhanced to feature hours of music, dynamic 3D first person exploration and (mostly) peaceful open worlds. From infinite train rides to sun bleached deserts, there’s quite a lot to experience at leisure:)

Included Games

Nightline

Take the Nightline through an infinite Metropolis. Destination? Unknown. Originally released on June 23, 2018 for PROCJAM, this ambient train ride through a procedurally generated city has evolved through the years to include additional environments and updated aesthetics such as gpu melting real time reflections and grimy VHS emulation. Inspired by graveyard shift commutes in New York City’s MTA R160 subway car. The smell of urine and stale fast food is, sadly, not included in this simulation.

Carcavas

Visit the Carcavas Valley Natural Preserve in this nostalgic exploration piece. It’s a curious place, thousand acres of dry shrub home to a wide variety of wildlife and rumors of military test sites and energy zones. Originally released on April 13, 2020, largely influenced by extended roadtrips through North America’s deserts / prairies; Sonoran, Mojave, Badlands; and the kinetic strandbeest of Theo Jansen.

That Feeling Blue

A star melts on a morphing altar, the enveloping woods feed ever growing, that feeling, blue, sinks deeper. Originally released on September 2, 2018 as a curated installation in the Zium Garden, it has mutated over the years into an overgrown garden of melancholic fauna, flora, aesthetics and environments with music to enjoy. Stirred heavily by a burning desire to stroll through Max Ernst’s brooding forests.

The Sands of Voltark

Upon crash landing on this desert planet, you have the choice to explore its beautiful steppes or systematically strip mine its resources. Choose wisely for the consequences are irreversible! Originally released on July 26, 2018. Drawing from the nostalgic worlds of Asimov, Herbert and Lucas, a sci fi adventure riddled with sand worms, exotic vegetation, and an encumbering corporate responsibility that could only lead to various cinematic endings. Keep in mind that Voltark’s ecosystem reacts to you, initiating a mining pylon will change the environment!

æ

Strange shapes and voices pierce the blizzard's veil, stranded and curious atop this mountain you leave behind the comforts of your cabin to survey this darkest of nights. Yet another stroll thru Max Ernst’s mystical woods, but in a much meaner and grim headspace. Not exactly peaceful nor aggressive, but open to interpretation on how you view deconstructed roman statues announcing mathematical notations through noisecore incantations.
